The Caesars Tournament held at Numan's March 3rd 2007 was a good field of 90 players. The play was as tight as I have ever seen in one of our Free Rolls.

Of course you had the loose calls that resulted in someone being drawn out on and a few runner--runner straights and flushes. Big pocket pairs were good to some players and deadly to others.

The biggest surprise of the day for players going up against her was Cathy Milhorn who was our winner. She is a fairly new player but played a really good solid game to best the field and win. Some of the guys underestimated her and they didn't survive the showdown.

And what can I say about our second place finisher, I'm sure someone has probably already said it all many times.  Billy  "KaBam"  Barnes  takes poker to a whole new level in his own time and space.

Congratulations to both of them and to all the fine players who came out and gave it their best shot.

Hog Wild, Sat 10th at 12pm  #`1 John Shelton     2nd Nancy Brogdon

The play for the whole tournament was exceptional. The final table was anybody's guess for the longest time. When they got down to heads up John had a slight advantage and he took every chance he could to put the tournament away. Nancy played so good she could have won if only the cards had fell a little more her way.

Congratulations to all the players and Thanks to Hog Wild for hosting a great tournament.

Hello Dan and Jan,      10/25/2007

As you all know I was very fortunate to be lucky to win a supersatellite last year to win a trip to Las Vegas and play in the WSOP Main Event off of Truepoker.com.  Well they just had their first satellite this year last night on February 1st.  What can I say but what a rush the tourney was up and down up and down.  A friend of mine who is also a player in the Tennessee Poker League, Doug Fillers, split the buy in into this tourney.  The top 2 players only were winning seats to the WSOP Main Event 2007.  We made the final table and were avg stack in 5th place.  When it got down to 4 players we were easily in 2nd place and feeling very comfortable. We busted the guy out in 4th place and we were down to 3.  With a guy low stack he pushed a few times and was doubled up by chip leader once and then by us on a horrible call on our part.  We were now the low stack with only about 3400 chips and blinds at 375/750.  Then came our 1st HUGE suckout. We were on the button with A 9 os and shoved all in to buy the blinds.  Well the small blind wasnt having it and re raised all in.  Well cards are shown and he has KK vs our A9 os.  We flopped the pointy top card that we  so desperately needed.  He was now the low stack again and after a few raises from us and chip leader we had him down to 1600 chips. We were in the BB and he (short stack) was on the button.  With blinds still at 375/750 he goes all in. We have a little over 8k so only 850 more for us to call since the huge chip leader in small blind folded, we had 7 8 os.  Well here came our final suckout and yes it was another 3 outer--haha.  He turns up A 8 off suit.  Well the flop was good for him bringing nothing, but the 7 fell on the turn and put him out in 3rd place. We ended up taking 2nd place but was still enough to win another trip back to the WSOP Main Event again this year.  We hope that many, many other players in our league get the chance to win seats again like Dan and Ken Stacy did last year.  I can say this, I will not be playing in the main event this year.  We split the buy in so we have decided to ask Truepoker to split the 10k buy in into a few $1500 and $2k buy ins for the both of us.  If they will not let us do this, then we will take the 10k payout and call it a decent payday---haha!!  We are planning our trip out to Vegas though because that is where the 5k a piece will be heading anyway.  Wish us luck and hope to see many more league players out there this year!!!   Also hope to see many of you at Caesars IN sometime between March 26th and April 4th.  The WSOP is having a circuit event there and we will both be playing in a few events up there during that time as well.   See you all at the tables!!!

   1/15/2007                  Jan and Dan,

I thought since you guys were gracious enough to enter me in the WSOP at the Grand this weekend the least I could do would be to write a letter about it for the league. First off I would like to thank the both of you for all of your tireless work that you both do to make the TPL the premier place to play in the Tri-Cities area. It goes without saying that the skills I have acquired in my time with the TPL has given me the tools to be successful at any level of Hold 'Em Poker played anywhere in the world.
In Tunica , I feel that each TPL member that went down represented this league well. I know myself I felt conflicted with my own finish, I finished 77th out of about 830 people (700 entrants 130 alternates) , but was five spots away from something I wanted to do so badly, cash in my first WSOP event. The Qs betrayed me near the end against a guy making a move with K-8, but as we here so frequently "that's poker."  However I also did bust As with Qs earlier so maybe poker karma caught up with me.
In conclusion, I would just like to say that I feel it is only a matter of time before somebody from the TPL makes a big splash in one of these events. The skill of the players at this recent circuit event and the skills of our group of players in the TPL are very similar. I would again like to thank you guys, James Hall, Ray Green, Derrick, John B, and everyone who continues to make the TPL a true treasure to the Tri-Cities area.

See you on the felt,

Bo M.
