Dan & Jan's Las Vegas Trip

June 8th to the 18th  2007

WSOP Event

Ahh Vacation …………We looked forward to it for weeks, it finally got here and “WOW”we were in Las Vegas.

Let the fun and Poker begin!

We had a mix up with our room reservations and right off the plane we didn’t have a room. Had to run all over the strip to find one as it seemed they were over booked everywhere.

Finally got a room at the Circus Circus, liked it and decided to stay there for the whole time. Plus they have a poker room, small but good action.

Dan played in the $1500 buy in at the Rio. That was the same one that Bo Milhorn won the entry for. They both said they enjoyed the experience. Neither one made the money but had a great time trying.

I played in the ladies $1000 buy in and didn’t make it to the money either, also had a great time trying. The cards and I seemed to be in different worlds and time zones.

So on to the vacation, which was the primary reason for being in Vegas.

I made money at the cash games every night of our vacation. 1-2 no limit …good game. Seems like all the guys thought I didn’t know how to play and they just insisted on calling me and giving me their money. I was not objecting. Just stacking chips!

Day three we played in a $240 buy in tournament at the Mirage and Dan won it for a pay day of $4500. We then had playing money  Yea!  Several more tournaments and several days and I got a 3rd in a small tournament at Harrah’s. More money to play on.

I cashed in several times at the Black Jack tables, never big but enough to have a good time playing at it.

In between poker playing and poker tournaments I insisted on seeing some shows. Dan hated to leave the poker room but he did enjoy the shows in spite of himself.

We saw “The Beatles –LOVE—Cirque du Soleil” ---great show. We saw “The BLUE MAN” show--- loved it and the comedy show at Harrah’s was very funny and very good.

Leaving Las Vegas was of course bitter-sweet, we were ready to be home but we sure were loving the poker games.

At the airport we had about an hour to kill, Dan sits down at a 25¢ Wheel of Fortune machine and promptly wins $550.

What a way to end a Perfectly Wonderful vacation.

Las Vegas Trip Results 2006

  • Susie Ricker finished 228 out of 1128 in the Women's tournament. It was another record field for the women, and the prize pool was over One Million dollars.

Susie played extremely well, and we couldn't have had a better representation for our league.

  • John Shelton also played great and made it to the top third of the players. He was in a very tough field of players also, with a lot of the pro's playing.

John is one of our finest players and we all hope he had a good time.

The March TPL tournament for two trips to Las Vegas 2006

John Shelton and Susie Ricker are going to the WSOP July 9th. Congratulations to John and Susie, and thanks to all the players that participated. Thanks to the Dealers and Operators that worked hard for two days to make all this happen.

John and Susie are both top players in our league, I feel quite sure they will not only have a great time, but are very likely to come home with the cash.

What a great tournament. The final table was excellent play and as good as any Pro event I have seen.

The Final Table players were, with chip counts:

With no help Hank is out in tenth place. The fireworks have started and hand #5 Susie raises to 30000 and Keith goes all in with 9 7 suited and is called quickly by Susie with pocket Jacks and the pair holds up. Keith is # 9. The action remains fast as Susie goes all in in hand #7 with 10-10 and is called by John Shelton A K the board is all small and a 10 pops up on the river and Susie doubles up again. The play turns conservative again and there is no action until the break. At the break Susie Ricker is the chip leader with 360000.

After the break several all ins win and it is hand # 8 that Jeff raises all in 86000 with J J and is called by Chris who has been very quiet until now. A Q suited. The flop has an A and we are 7 handed.

We go to hand # 14 and there has been little chip movement except that Susie has doubled up twice at the expense of John. Chris raises to 60000 and Susie calls. With a flop 8d 6h 5s Chris makes a move against Susie with Qd 9d and Susie who is pot committed calls with 10d 7d.
