Letter from Bo
Dear League Members,
I am writing to tell you about what a great time I had in
Vegas! First off I'd like you to know that the town is difficult to
put into words just how big and fascinating it is. My family and I had
an excellent flight into the town, and just getting to see it from the
air was really something. All those lights kind of come out of the
darkness at you. It was very cool.
We were lucky enough to stay at the Rio during our trip, and it was a
wonderful hotel and casino. Also if any of you should ever venture out
there you must definitley try the cheeseburger at the Rio's Sports
Kitchen, right next to the poker room. It's the best burger I have
ever had. As for poker itself I didn't do nearly as well as I expected
in the WSOP tournament losing two classic races with A-K, first time
suited second time not. Once to a pair of 9s and once to A-Q, ah the 3
outer. I feel though my play was very good. Having the opportunity to
play with the guys that we can only read about or watch on TV is a
true reward in itself. I did take a big pot early off Freddy Deeb by
the way. Thank you trip 8's. But those kind of experiences are what
makes a trip like that. Also if you are wondering who won the
tournament, alas the poker brat himself, Phil Hellmuth, won it giving
him his 11th bracelet in NLH and moving him past Doyle and Johnny. But
the real
question is can Phil really spell poker? Hmmmmm.
I did however have much success at the 1-2 NL game at the Tropicana, a
game that I came to dub "the aquarium" for obvious reasons. I also
played in a small $60 buy in tournament at the Orleans finishing 2nd
and leaving with a little more money than when I went in with. My own
mother actually got into the act while in Vegas, winning a sattelite
into the ladies main event and then getting to play with Jennifer
Tilley. That was a real treat for her and me, but mostly me.
To all of you in the league who have wished me luck and given me
encouragement before I went I would like to say thank you. I would
also like to thank Dan and Jan for all they and the operators and
dealers do by giving us a place to play the game that we all love.
See you on the felt,
Bo Milhorn

April Cox is a relative new comer to our league but proved she can play
by finishing second. She has also been learning to deal quite well.
Ron West is always one to look for in the top of the field. I think it will also
just be a matter of time until he is the winner.
Some pictures from the tournament and some of the players.
